Ski holiday can be the time that we will never forget

If we want to heave a great ski holiday, we should consider quite a few things like equipment hire, possible childcare options etc. Choosing the perfect resort, that will take care of our needs and wishes, will help us to completely relax and enjoy the joys of winter. Therefore, we need to ask ourselves a few questions before the actual booking.

Ski holidays

The choice of the right resort depends on how much money are we ready to spend, the time of year and also our level of skiing or snowboarding. If we are beginners it is just not worth going to a big name resort with a large ski area where we will end up paying for something that we won’ t  even fully use. Resorts that are good for first-timers have usually novice slopes.

The next question we would like to ask ourselves is either, in addition to skiing or snowboarding, we want to experience also some other activities, such as ice skating, snowshoeing or visiting a spa.

How many members does our holiday group consist of?  Is it just a couple or a larger group?  If we have children, we should look for resorts that are family friendly, which generally means that they have great nursery slopes and comprehensive childcare options. If our holiday group has different ability levels, we need to find a resort that will be suitable for mixed-ability groups and bear in mind that not all ski-in/ski-out properties will be suitable for beginners.

Do we wish to spend our holiday in a place with great sights? The choice of scenery can sometimes play a big role in peopleˈ s decisions. There are some purpose-built resorts that may not be as pretty as some others, but are often positioned high in the mountains, snow-sure and provide easy access to slopes from the accommodations.

Are we looking for a place where we can party? If so, it is important to look for resorts that are suitable for that, if it is the opposite and we would like to avoid drunken revellers, we should consider smaller ones, which tend to be quieter.

Family ski resorts

There is also a question of our accommodation preferences. Hotels offer either B&B or half-board accommodation and are a good choice for couples, while catered chalets are great for families or groups of friends. They usually provide chalet board, which includes breakfast, afternoon and a three or four course dinner. If we choose a self-catering apartment we will need to buy breakfast items and cook for ourselves in the evenings, or consider trying resortˈ s local food and using a food delivery service.
