WHEAT HARVEST – 2000 GOLDEN GRAINS FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM
On Sunday, July 20, 2025, 24 members of the Bohinj Tourist Association and the Bohinjska Bistrica Pensioners’ Association went on a trip to Dobrovnik, where this year’s main event as part of the 2000 Golden Grains for the New Millennium project took place. It is a special project that was born in 1999 in Babinci, and was conceived by three members of the Babinci Tourist Cultural Association. From a simple, but symbolically rich idea, a pan-Slovenian initiative grew that connects places, people and societies.
The project is centered around the symbolic sowing and harvesting of wheat, where each year one of the participating societies adds new grains of wheat – as a symbol of the continuous flow of time, friendship and cooperation. Every seventh year, the tradition symbolically returns to where it began – to Babinci. The project is centered around the symbolic sowing and harvesting of wheat, where each year another participating society adds its grains of wheat – as a sign of respect for tradition, nature and community. Every seventh year, the harvest returns to Babinci, as a reminder of the beginnings and the importance of preserving cultural heritage.
We visited the Jakob’s Fair and the begging ceremony, followed by a traditional harvest demonstration that impressed visitors with its authenticity and respect for former farming work. Along with good food and pleasant music by the Fekonja band, new friendships were made. The cultural program was followed by the handover of 2,000 golden grains – this year to the Slovenian Model Farm in Porabje, which gives the project an additional cross-border dimension and the importance of connecting Slovenians at home and abroad. The day continued with a tour of the natural and tourist pearls of the surrounding area. We visited Bukovnik Lake, stopped at energy points, the chapel of St. Vid and the spring, and felt the tranquility of this special place. Finally, we visited the Adamič Garden, where we enthusiastically admired the diversity of flowers and the park layout, and also had the opportunity to purchase plants.
The event in Dobrovnik was not just a revival of tradition, but a living testimony that values such as respect for nature, cooperation between people and love for roots are still alive and important. Next year we will again participate in the harvest in Porabje, you are cordially invited.

A colorful Saturday and a sporty Sunday at the Four Brave Men’s Running Weekend in Bohinj
Bohinj came alive again this year with the 23rd edition of the traditional Four Brave Men’s Run, which delighted both the youngest and adult running enthusiasts. In cooperation with Bohinj Tourism and volunteers from the Avgust Gašperin Stara Fužina Sports Association, a varied and dynamic program was prepared, attracting numerous participants and visitors to the heart of the Julian Alps.
Saturday was marked by the children’s B.O.FEjST, which included a variety of activities for children of all ages. The day began with a family hike along the northern shore of Lake Bohinj, which ended with an exciting return trip on a panoramic boat, while students from the Dr. Janez Mencinger Elementary School participated in interesting activities near the event venue.

15th Traditional Hike to Savica Waterfall
This year, on the morning of April 27th, we set out once again for the 15th traditional hike to the most beautiful waterfall in Slovenia – the Savica waterfall. More than 70 hikers enjoyed a pleasant morning hike. Half of the participants started from the Tourist Association Bohinj , while the other half set off from Ukanc.
Along the way, with breathtaking views, we covered quite a few kilometers. Food and drinks were provided before the hike began and after it ended. We thank the cooks from Danica Inn for the delicious barley stew. All participants also received a hiking certificate and a commemorative t-shirt.
We enjoyed the accordion music played by Janez Cerkovnik and had pleasant conversations. Several participants took advantage of the panoramic boat ride on their way back.
We invite you to join us in large numbers for the next, already the 16th traditional hike, which will take place on April 27th, 2026.
37. Alpine evening in Bohinj
In 2025, we organized the Alpine Evening at Danica Hall for the first time over two consecutive nights: Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26.
The Friday music evening commenced with a delightful introduction provided by the Chamber Accordion Ensemble of the Radovljica Music School, led by Tomaz Cilenšek, and the Bohinj Ensemble Spod Triglava. The program was enriched by performances from the Alpine Quintet, Hišni Trio with vocals, Ansambel Zupan, Vražji muzikanti, Vetrnjaki, and Trio Vedri muzikantje.
The Saturday program began with a performance by the Godba Bohinj, followed by the Alpine Quintet, Ansambel Juhej, Veseli Begunjčani, Ansambel Jureta Zajca, Mißebner Trio, Maxi Trio, and Die Kaiserwalder Musketiere.
The event was skillfully hosted by humorist Vinko Šimek and Veseljak editor Janja Ulaga.
The quality of the evening’s performances reached international acclaim, attracting attendees from neighboring Austria and Germany. The Friday event drew a considerable number of visitors, while the Saturday event sold out all seats.
Guesthouse Danica, with the assistance of external collaborators and members, ensured excellent food and beverages for the attendees.
We sincerely thank all visitors and everyone who contributed to the success of this wonderful evening. The event was a resounding success and will undoubtedly remain a cherished memory for all listeners and performers.
The Bohinj Tourist Association looks forward to celebrating the 38th Alpine Evening in Bohinj on April 24 and 25, 2026, which will also commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Alpine Quintet. Tickets will be available in the coming months at the Bohinj Tourist Association Information Center.
B.O.FEjST Winter Carnival Festival
On Saturday, March 1, Danica Hall transformed into a magical venue for masqueraders. The Winter Carnival B.O.FEjST event attracted over 600 visitors and was filled with laughter, play, creativity, and surprises. The youngest attendees had the opportunity to ride ponies, jump on inflatable castles, assemble dominoes, try walking on stilts, and explore a labyrinth.
There were also games available, such as Jenga, fishing for fish, and decorating snowmen, which encouraged creativity and fun. Two different workshops were very well attended, and most children took advantage of the face painting station. Fejstka the Cow warmly greeted visitors and posed for photos with them.
We enjoyed the performance of Cirkus nerodne Avguštine (The Clumsy Augusta Circus), and the popular magician Jole Cole led the children into a world of surprises in a fun way. Andrej Zupančič transformed into the charming Pika Nogavička (Pippi Longstocking) and delighted everyone present. To conclude, the children took the stage with confident singing performances and received a big round of applause.
For hungry and thirsty visitors, Guesthouse Danica took care of the catering, and to finish off, visitors treated themselves to as many as 300 donuts.
We’re already looking forward to the next B.O.FEjST, which will take place on October 31, 2025, again at Danica Hall.
Bohinj winter party lasting until the early hours of the morning.
uesthouseIn early February, we hosted the third Bohinj Winter Party at the Danica Hall. From 6 PM to 9 PM, the focus was on fun socializing with a variety of arcade games. Children and adults alike most often tried their hand at giant inflatable-soccer-ball games, bungee trampolines, table tennis, foosball, darts, air hockey, ring toss, light-catching challenges, and the nearly-forgotten skill game Flipper. Virtual-reality headsets delighted video game fans.
A relaxed atmosphere was created by mechanical music during the first part of the event. The excitement among kids playing the arcade games scattered around the hall was incredible. After the kid-friendly program ended, DJ Kuky took over, keeping the mood unforgettable with energetic Yu‑Rock hits that had dancers partying right by the stage. To top it all off, laser effects and artificial fog added even more flair.
Food and drinks were provided by Guesthouse Danica.
A free shuttle bus was available throughout the evening for comfortable and safe transport to and from the venue—more than 120 guests took advantage of it.
The Bohinj Winter Party continued until 2 AM, and despite the late hour, no one seemed tired. Over 800 guests attended in total. Thank you all for coming—your enthusiastic response is our reward for all the effort.
