In the idyllic setting of Pod Skalco in Ribčevem Laz, just a stone’s throw from Lake Bohinj, you will witness an authentic Bohinj wedding. The event is staged by KUD Triglav Srednja vas, which brings the three-part story of the wedding ceremony to life with Bohinj dialect, singing and dancing:
- Bride – the arrival of the groom at the bride’s house, where the search for the right bride and the arranging of the wedding takes place.
- The shranga – the symbolic ordeal of the groom, who must prove his worth and earn his bride.
- At the groom’s home – the celebration that accompanies the bride’s arrival in her new home.
The event is given a special touch by original dialogues in the Bohinj dialect, which imbue the event with a sense of authenticity and familiarity. The charm of the dancing and singing performances is maintained by the joy and joyfulness that have always accompanied wedding traditions.
“Peace be with you! And happiness will follow you all the way, all your life…” – the words of the bride’s father, wishing happiness to the newlyweds, and many other dialogues will take you back to the time when rituals were part of everyday life in Bohinj.
