The Uskovnica mountain hut is situated on the lower part of the vast Uskovnica mountain, which is the south-eastern part of the Pokljuka plateau above the Gornja Bohinj valley and the Voja valley. In the vicinity of the hut there are numerous shepherd’s huts converted into holiday cottages. The hut was built by the Bohinj-Srednja vas PD and inaugurated on 10 July 1955; in 1965 the hut was enlarged and renovated. After the association’s successful application to the public call for proposals for support for mountain, sports and recreational infrastructure in 2021, the old building was demolished and a new, energy-efficient hut was built on the same site. The new hut maintains the size and appearance of the old, demolished hut.
The catering area has 60 seats and a counter; the 7 rooms (1 is suitable for disabled persons), all with en-suite bathrooms, have 13 beds and the dormitories have 17 beds (shared sanitary facilities). The catering area and the rooms are heated (underfloor heating). The cottage is electrified and connected to the water supply.
